Ice Cube is an American Rapper, Songwriter, Actor, and film Producer. Also known for from a historical hip-hop group N.W.A, who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2016 (10 Years Ago), becoming only the fifth Hip-Hop group to achieve this honor, with the shocking, flawed, revolutionary and worthy. N.W.A’ s improbable rise from marginalized outsiders to the most controversial and complicated voices of their generation remains one of rock’s most explosive, relevant, and challenging tales. On November 22, 2024, Ice Cube releases his eleventh solo album “Man Down,” ten months later, Cube released his twelfth studio album “Man Up,” on September 12, 2025. It has been six years since Cube dropped a studio album. He has been consistently enhancing his basketball league the Big 3 which made it their latest 8th season. On July 20, 2025, Cube starred in a thriller film “War of the Words,” and earned 4% in rotten tomatoes. In four decades, Ice Cube’s been a dynamic artist with amount of authentic work including twenty-five movie films and expanding an opportunity to other artist for the audacity to rap the truth about the society by justifying through music.
Ice Cube was born June 15, 1969, on 111th Van Wick St (WestMont) in South Central, Los Angels. Raise by his two parents, his mother Doris Benjamin who was a hospital clerk and his father Hosea Jackson a UCLA groundskeeper. He has an older brother and their half older sister, Beverly Jean Brown who was shot and killed by her husband in 1981. He is also a cousin of fellow rappers, Del Tha Funky Homosapien, Kam and J-Dee. In 1987, he performed with a group N.W.A, with MC Ren, Dr. Dre, DJ Yella, The D.O.C., Arabian Prince and Eazy-E. “Boyz N Tha Hood” and “Dopeman” was the first two records written by Ice Cube and was release as N.W.A’s first group singles. “Eazy-Duz-It” was the first record to pursue on Ruthless Records before N.W.A’s debut album “Straight Outta Compton.” And was release in Aug 1988, through Priority/Ruthless Records and receive platinum certification and peaked at #9 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart and at #37 on the Billboard 200. Sold 3 million copies. Which adds to the animosity in the situation, caused Ice Cube to leave the group N.W.A. due to financial disputes over royalties.

In May 1991, Ice Cube release his debut solo album “Amerikkkas Most Wanted,” followed up with his EP “Kill at Will.” In New York with iconic rap group Public Enemy’s production team, The Bomb Squad. It was an instant hit, further swelling rap’s mainstream integration. Controversial nonetheless, it drew accusations of misogyny and racism. The album introduces Ice Cube’s affirmation of black nationalism and ideology of black struggle. Later that year, Ice Cube co-star as ‘Doughboy’ his first debuted as an actor in a film “Boyz N The Hood,” written and directed by John Singleton. A persona that Ice Cube played convincingly. In October 1991, Ice Cube second debut album “Death Certificate,” would be where he would prove his staying power, and it remains one of his most celebrated efforts today more than 25 years later. As one of music’s most outspoken and controversial players at the time. Ice Cube in many ways gave political voice to a generation of young black Americans just one generation removed from The Black Panther. The song from the album “Black Korea” would become the most controversial track on the “Death Certificate” album. Cube threatens violence as a response to the preponderance of Korea grocery stores in Black Neighborhoods across the USA. The track was also seen as a reaction of the death of a 15-year-old African American girl Latasha Harlins, who was shot to death by a Korea store owner on March 26, 1991, in an altercation over a bottle of orange juice. The killer faced no prison time, beyond a fine and community service.
